Outdoor Education

The term "Outdoor Education" refers to a wide variety of educational experiences characterized by active teaching carried out in environments outside of school and tailored to the characteristics of the local area and the social and cultural context in which it is located.

Originating in Northern European countries, it has also become widespread in Italy in recent years.

It promotes a comprehensive education in diverse educational spaces, not limited to the space provided by the school building. Therefore, to speak of outdoor education, it's not enough to leave the classroom or replicate what's done inside outside; what the environment and nature offer must be used for new and important learning.

This pedagogy also includes educational programs held in urban environments (museums, squares, city parks) where a direct and concrete relationship with the real world and the full involvement of the learner are guaranteed.
